My Experience

Snowboarding

I loved snowboarding in Andorra. I went with my boyfriend and also his little brother, David decided to join us for the snowboarding duration of the trip. It was David’s first time and my second time snowboarding. We caught Andorra at a great time from the end of February to the beginning of March. There are three different ski resorts in Andorra but we decided to stay in Pal Arinsal. Although our ski-pass allowed us to explore other mountains but we spend our entire trip snowboarding in different lines of Pal Arinsal mountain. This should indicate how many lines you have to choose from if you are beginner to intermediate. When the blue line routes got crowded we decided to go further up in the green lanes and it was with more curves and less crowd. The crowd was equal for snowboarders and skiers, but majorly the crowd seemed experienced than beginners. They also provide instructors for adult and kids if you are first-timers. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Reaching the resort

We went to Andorra in March 2025, that was perfect season for snowboarding in the Pyrenees mountains. It wasn’t very crowded. We landed in Barcelona airport and bought a bus ticket to Andorra using the airport bus service. It took us 3 hours to reach Andorra la Vella and we took the inter-city bus to get to our hotel called Rutllan and Spa that we booked through booking.com.

Hotel

We caught Christmassy-snowfall after our dinner at El Moli in Andorra ❤️
It was my first time eating Paella in Barcelona. As a rice-lover, I was in love.
We managed to explore Barcelona a bit. My boyfriend also got his tattoo retouched that would have been more expensive back home.

Rutllan and Spa was a fancy family hotel with nice breakfast buffet and storage for our snowboard gear. We were not very satisfied with the blowers in the storage room because our snowboarding gears would still be little damp the next day. This hotel was situated right next to the ropeway to main ski mountain called Pal Arinsal. We had many options for snowboard rental stores but we chose the one with best google reviews called Esports bauseli in La Massana. We received great service from this store. The snowboards we rented were great quality and they exchanged our boards after we wanted different type. Definitely 4 stars for this store and ⭐⭐⭐ for the hotel.

We had to move to a different hotel for our last day so we chose an affordable hostel type stay called Grand front hostel, Andorra. The receptionist was very kind to take care of our luggage before our check in time. If you are backpacking, this affordable hostel would be a better choice but I would recommend to pre-book your hotel as snow season is full of tourists.

Leisure

When we were not snowboarding, we would just relax in the Donpi bar and enjoy some beer with friends. We also tried different restaurants each evening for dinner. One of my favorites were Sentro’ 20 and El Moli Restaurant

Barcelona

We wanted to spend one night in Barcelona before our flight. So we decided to checkout the hotel in Andorra, do some shopping in Andorra la vela and catch a bus back to Barcelona. We reached Barcelona and stayed in a small shared apartment. It was just one night stay so we didn’t book the fanciest place. Next morning we explored the neighborhood, but the following events were not part of the expectation. We missed our flight becasue it was strike day in the city and we couldn’t get to the airport in time. Moreover, when I went to use the airport bathroom, my 300Euros got pickpocketed. Although it was devastating, we were more worried about geeting a different flight back to home. In the end we could find a flight for the same day so we had to stay another night in Barcelona. This time we decided to not go to the city instead we found a quiet isolated property called Masia Can Canyes – Hotel rural & Spa and just decided to recover from the unfortunate events. It was a very romantic hotel surrounded by vineyards and no city noise. The owners are a couple who takes care and maintain the property. They were empathetic to our situation and decided to give us discount on our stay. The dinner was amazing as they have amazing selection of wine and a great menu based on their homegrown food. This hotel really gave us the real spanish, warm and homely experience that we needed. Definitely ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ worthy.
