My Experience
Snowboarding
I really liked the ski resort for snowboarding. I am still a beginner, but I finished the lengthiest part of the mountain on the first day. The other days, I just practiced on the same mountain. The only downside was the crowd. We were in Bansko for a week in the first month of February and it was “the peak season”, so there were groups of people on the mountain.
Reaching the Resort
We landed in Sofia airport and decided to rent a car for 135 Euro at the airport to go to Bansko. We also bought temporary simcard for wifi. It took us 2 hours to reach our hotel. We had pre-booked our hotel for the entire stay and that was a great decision.
Hotel

The hotel we stayed in was called Lion Hotel Bansko. The rooms were spacious with complimentary breakfast for our entire stay. It was an OK hotel, we were not completely satisfied with the services. The hotel didn’t have blower rooms for our ski equipment so it was a hassle to dry our gears. The location was nice as it was a 10 minute walk away from the ski gondola. Rating ⭐⭐/5
Leisure
When we were not snowboarding, we would just relax in the room or go swimming in the hotel pool. It was unfortunate that the hotel had very old TV otherwise we would spend more time relaxing in the room in the rainy days. The city center was fun to walk around and we had dinner at new places everynight. For dinner, we would usually go to the nearest diners and enjoy the local cuisine and music.
Sofia
We spent a day in Sofia, and it was very nice. We wanted to do some shopping for valentine’s day, so we walked around the local market buying souvenirs and even checked out the mall. If you decide to rent your own car then you should be careful about parking as the traffic police are vigilant and strict.
